Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Container Payment Portal?

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of Yang Ming’s new fee payment portal for U.S. time-pending charges, called the Container Payment Portal. This is an innovative platform that will become your primary interface for handling OSRA-compliant payment activities, particularly for settling demurrage charges. There is no charge to take advantage of the Yang Ming sponsored Cargo Lifecycle Management® cargo visibility, container track / trace, real-time release, customer service and dispute management features of the Portal.  This is independent of any PayCargo payment transaction processing fees associated with your PayCargo account.

When will the Container Payment Portal go live for each port terminal location?

The CPP will be rolled out in waves across all major U.S. ports, starting from December 13th , 2025, with initial launch at Total Terminals International (TTI) Long Beach, CA.

Remaining terminal go live scheduling will be communicated as the program unfolds.

How do I register to make payments in PayCargo and how long does it take?

To register and get started, please visit: PayCargo Registration.  For Credit Card payments, registration enjoys same day approval.  When linking bank accounts, registration approval will up to 48 hours to complete the needed security and regulatory validations. If a quick turn registration is needed, a credit card may be used and the account can then be converted to ACH to access the lowest cost long-term processing.

Can I also make payments at PayCargo.com, or do I need to go through the Container Payment Portal?

Yes, when selecting the Yang Ming Demurrage vendor at PayCargo, you will find a redirect to the Container Payment Portal.

Is there a cost to use the Container Payment Portal?

There are no additional fees to use the Container Payment Portal (CPP).  The Container Lifecycle Management® features of the portal are sponsored by Yang Ming as a customer service investment.

Separate from the CPP and similar to Yang Ming invoice payments made at PayCargo.com, the similar payment transaction fees apply to demurrage payments.

Where can I find the Yang Ming Import Demurrage Tariff?

You can find the Yang Ming Import Demurrage & Empty Detention Tariff by visiting: https://e-solution.yangming.com/e-service/demdet/demdet.aspx.

What data will I be able to see in the Container Payment Portal?

Yang Ming customers will have access to a Container Watchlist, which provides full container status event visibility throughout the Container Lifecycle, including Last Free Day (LFD) management. By entering a pick-up date, the portal will dynamically calculate any demurrage fees due, and registered users can conveniently settle charges using their PayCargo account.

What does Paid and/or Good Through Date mean?

The “Paid Through Date” (PTD) is the date through which the container charges have been settled—whether by payment of fees, allocation of free time, or a Yang Ming release process. This date is also referred to as the “Good Through Date” and extends beyond the original “Last Free Day” (LFD).

How do I request a refund?

To request a refund, please visit the following Refund Tutorial, available in the PayCargo Resource Library: PayCargo Resource Library.

Supported documentation uploads include .PDF, .PNG and .JPEG.  If attaching an eMail, you must print or download it to .PDF format or use a screenshot in .PNG or .JPEG format.

What is the difference between Port, CH, and CIT move designations?
  • Port represents Merchant Haulage import movements, where the merchant handles the transport.

  • CH stands for Carrier Haulage, referring to container moves where the carrier handles the transport.

  • CIT stands for Container Inland Terminal, identifying an inland rail movement.

Can I use this portal to pay terminal storage charges?

For terminal storage charges, please refer to the individual terminal instructions for guidance on how to settle charges levied by the respective terminal operator.

Post-payment, how long will it take for my container to be released at the Terminal?

The portal is directly connected to the Terminal Operating Systems, ensuring timely communication. However, some Terminals rely on EDI messaging, which may not be immediate. As a result, there could be a delay of up to one (1) hour for status changes to be reflected.

Who do I contact for more information on Container Holds displayed in the Container Watchlist?

Container Holds from Yang Ming will be displayed as either “Line” or “Line Demurrage”. For any other holds, please contact the Marine Terminal Operator.
