Getting Started

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of Hapag-Lloyd’s new fee payment portal for U.S. time-pending charges, called the Container Payment Portal. This is an innovative platform that will become your primary interface for handling OSRA-compliant payment activities, particularly for settling demurrage charges. There is no charge to take advantage of the Hapag-Lloyd sponsored Cargo Lifecycle Management® cargo visibility, container track / trace, real-time release, customer service and dispute management features of the Portal. This is independent of any PayCargo payment transaction processing fees associated with your PayCargo account.

We’re pleased to share that Hapag-Lloyd’s Container Payment Portal (CPP), powered by PayCargo and Gnosis Freight, has already successfully launched at the following U.S. ports:

  • Norfolk
  • Houston
  • Savannah
  • Miami, Tampa & Port Everglades
  • Charleston
  • Tacoma
  • Baltimore
  • Mobile
  • Philadelphia
  • Los Angeles
  • New York

These rollouts mark a major step forward in streamlining the payment of time-pending charges, offering faster cargo release through real-time container visibility, instant pro-forma invoicing, secure integrated payments, and simplified dispute resolution.

We are now proceeding with the next phase of the rollout in Oakland, New Orleans, and Seattle, beginning with the following terminals and vessels:

  • Oakland – Oakland International Container Terminal: MV Gerd Maersk V611E expected to arrive April 16, 2026
  • New Orleans – Ports America: MV Wide Hotel V2605N expected to arrive on April 20, 2026
  • Seattle – Terminal 18: MV CMA CGM Seattle V611N expected to arrive on April 23, 2026

To register and get started, please visit: PayCargo RegistrationFor Credit Card payments, registration enjoys same day approval. When linking bank accounts, registration approval will take up to 48 hours to complete the needed security and regulatory validations.  If a quick-turn registration is needed, a credit card may be used and the account can then be converted to ACH to access the lowest cost long-term processing.

Yes, when selecting the Hapag-Lloyd Demurrage vendor at PayCargo, you will find a redirect to the Container Payment Portal.

Payments, Fees & Tariffs

There are no additional fees to use the Container Payment Portal (CPP). The Container Lifecycle Management® features of the portal are sponsored by Hapag-Lloyd as a customer service investment.

Separate from the CPP and similar to Hapag-Lloyd invoice payments made at PayCargo.com, the same payment transaction fees apply to demurrage payments.

You can find the Hapag-Lloyd Import Demurrage Tariff by visiting: Hapag-Lloyd Demurrage & Detention.

For terminal storage charges, please refer to the individual terminal instructions for guidance on how to settle charges levied by the respective terminal operator.

The “Paid Through Date” (PTD) is the date through which the container charges have been settled—whether by payment of fees, allocation of free time, or a Hapag-Lloyd release process. This date is also referred to as the “Good Through Date” and extends beyond the original “Last Free Day” (LFD).

Container Status & Operations

Hapag-Lloyd customers will have access to a Container Watchlist, which provides full container status event visibility throughout the Container Lifecycle, including Last Free Day (LFD) management. By entering a pick-up date, the portal will dynamically calculate any demurrage fees due, and registered users can conveniently settle charges using their PayCargo account.

The portal is directly connected to the Terminal Operating Systems, ensuring timely communication. However, some Terminals rely on EDI messaging, which may not be immediate. As a result, there could be a delay of up to one (1) hour for status changes to be reflected.

  • Port represents Merchant Haulage import movements, where the merchant handles the transport.
  • CH stands for Carrier Haulage, referring to container moves where the carrier handles the transport.
  • CIT stands for Container Inland Terminal, identifying an inland rail movement.

Container Holds from Hapag-Lloyd will be displayed as either “Line” or “Line Demurrage”. For any other holds, please contact the Marine Terminal Operator.
